Our union getting involved in legislative and political action is vital. When we volunteer to for Labor Walks for union friendly elected officials, or when we participate in lobby days or mobilize to town hall meetings; we create the backbone and support our union needs to push for legislation that will not only help the Local 1108 membership, but all working people.
When you volunteer to help out the unions Political Action Committee or Committee on Political Education, you directly help grow the bargaining and lobbying power of your unions’ Political Coordinator and elected President. When an elected official witnesses great numbers of Local 1108 members mobilizing in support of legislation or candidate support, the political community instantly recognizes how valuable we are in the political process. And when we lobby for laws to protect working people, politicians often remember our political action efforts, and they know that when we care about an issue or a cause, we put our support where it is necessary.

VERIZON CONTRACT EXTENDED…
Final Verizon Bargaining Report, A Message from President Don Dunn
The tentative agreement described below, in the opinion of your bargaining committee, builds on the important gains we achieved as a result of the 2016 strike. We believe that the strength and unity we displayed two years ago set the stage for this excellent contract extension.
